The Summer holidays are fast approaching. I’m not a very efficient case packer, always packing a few extra dresses and products which return home unfolded and unused. This year, I’ve decided to get organised early and at least sort out my toiletries. So here I have curated a selection of essential, beneficial beauty products, all of which come in handy packages – perfect for taking away with you.[Tweet “10 of the best small but perfectly formed #beauty products for your #travels #bbloggers”]
Here are the small but perfectly formed products I’ll be packing:
This is a new eye shadow palette from Bobbi Brown, containing a lovely mix of nude, earthy and smoky colours. Some are matte in texture, and the ones that look glittery in the palette just add a little subtle sparkle to your eye shadow. It’s a great selection for day and night time and is best applied with the finger tips rather than the brush in my opinion. The price is currently £52 – available from House of Fraser by following this link.
Three small but gorgeously soft makeup brushes made from bamboo & recycled materials. The full powder brush, eye shading brush and angled liner brush are the only brushes I’ll take on holiday if I’m packing light. I’ll clean them each night with a little gentle botanical shampoo and they’ll be dry and ready to use again in the morning. £5.99 from Boots.
I am like catnip to mosquitos, so even in the UK during the Summer I have to use insect repellent before going to bed. That high pitched mosquito buzz is a sure route to a sleepless night, but at least I know I won’t be covered in bites in the morning.[Tweet “If you’re like catnip to mosquitos read this post about #holiday #beauty essentials #bbloggers”]
CC stands for Complexion Control, and the formulation is lightweight giving my skin a healthy glow, without the heaviness of a foundation. This is great lazy-day makeup as it can be applied like a moisturiser and it evens out my skin tone. The end result is that my skin looks healthier and any blemishes are gone, but with a dewy looking finish rather than a very matte look. Arbonne’s products are vegan and contain no parabens, synthetic fragrances or mineral oil – so my pores won’t get clogged up in the heat. This product doesn’t contain an SPF, but I’ve got that covered (see Arbonne Liquid Sunshine). The CC Cream comes in 4 shades. Through my makeup business I’ve sold this product to numerous clients with fair skin and they’ve all been very happy with the ‘Light’ shade of the CC Cream as the colour blends into suit the natural tone of the skin. £31 from my Arbonne website.
Molton Brown Protecting Vitamin Lipsaver
You’ll find the Lip Saver in the men’s section of Molton Brown. It’s completely free of any smell or taste which is why I love it. It’s really hydrating and as it comes in a tube with a tiny hole in the top, if this melts in the sun, it won’t leave a mess in your pocket or handbag. It contains beeswax and vitamin E and it really works. I have one in every room of my house and panic if I leave home without one in my bag. £12 from Molton Brown.
I love this mineral based sun cream for face. It’s very rich so you don’t need to use much and it won’t leave any white marks on your skin, so you can wear it underneath your makeup. It’s water/sweat resistant and as it contains no nasty pore-clogging mineral oil, it’s the only sunscreen that doesn’t give me spots! £27 from my Arbonne website.
I love Jo Malone fragrances and really struggle to choose a favourite. I have two on the go at the moment: 100ml bottle of Earl Grey & Cucumber, and this smaller, more summery fragrance which I’ll take on holiday. I’m useless at describing perfume, so I’ll leave it to the Jo Malone marketing people – The fragile vanilla orchid forms the perfect counterpoint to the oaky caramel-rich vanilla bourbon, spiced with star anise. Warm and enveloping. Apparently. £42 from House of Fraser.[Tweet “10 beauty essentials that will fit in your overnight bag @lifestylemavens #beauty #holiday #bbloggers”]
I was given the travel sized shampoo and conditioner by EcoBeauty to sample. I hadn’t heard of this range before. It was developed by Fred Gielly and Shai Greenberg who have an exclusive boutique hair salon in Marylebone. Their award winning hair care products contain no parabens, SLS or synthetic fragrances. They use argan, neem and sea buckthorn oils which are great for skin and scalp. The shampoo has a subtle smell of shea butter and the conditioner is really effective for smoothing out my tangled hair. The travel size shampoo and conditioner are only £5 each from EcoBeauty. Check out my special offer at the end of the post.[Tweet “10% off #beauty products from @EcoBeautyUK – follow this link to find out how #bbloggers”]
An organic argon oil infused with vitamin E and Omega 6. It contains natural iridescent particles which gives your skin a lightly glittering glow, which I love. This really brings out a tan as well as hydrating the skin. I have only used this on my body, but it’s also great for hair apparently. Kaé products are available from EcoBeauty. The Beaute Scintillante is £37.
