Once a year I completely overhaul my makeup drawer, usually following a cosmetics counter makeover in one of the department stores.

Last year, Charlotte Tilbury liberated me of my hard-earned dosh, and the accompanying coincidence made a great story for the blog. The year before I was loyal only to Arbonne, a vegan skincare and makeup brand I used during my time as a makeup artist. Knowing that none of my clients would have an allergic reaction to Arbonne’s ethical and botanical ingredients was reassuring.

In September I was invited to meet Dominique Samuel, global director of artistry for Vincent Longo Cosmetics. Dominique is a softly spoken, blue eyed makeup angel and he told me all about the cosmetics brand while playing with my face.

I have completely overhauled my makeup drawer ready for my new Autumnal look. Watch my apply this look in a quick time video on the blog.

Vincent Longo has been around for more than 20 years and is well known by celebrities and makeup artists in the States, but has had a long absence in the UK. It’s now back with several key products which are available from Cult Beauty.

Vincent Longo’s colour palette is rich and varied, but each product also provides nourishment and treats the skin. Ingredients include Seaweed Extract, Liquorice Root and Vitamin E.

But it is Microwater that makes this range stand out from the crowd, providing ongoing hydration to the skin.  Special packaging prolongs the life of its Microwater based products: the travel compact for the Water Canvas foundation includes a mini cooling compartment, to keep the Microwater from drying out.

The products are cruelty free, Paraben free, oil free and hypoallergenic.

Dominique gave me a makeover using the whole range of cosmetics. The cooling Water Canvas Base is a light primer that glides over my skin, in readiness for the Creme-to-Powder Foundation. I haven’t used any clever Photoshop trickery in the video below, so you can see the flawless look the Foundation creates.

My favourite products are the Lip and Cheek Gel Stain (£18.50) – scarily bright on the wand, but so blendable this just creates a rosy glow; and the Lush Length Mascara (£18.50) which lengthens lashes like I’ve never seen before.

Now that I have been sent some of the products to try at home, I’ve had a chance to film this quick time makeup video, including a couple of other of my favourite products, for an Autumn makeup makeover. See the video captions for the product names.

Now I’m off to Cult Beauty to stock up on the rest of Vincent Longo’s range, so I can have a thorough clear out.

Much love, Vx
