This week I’ve been mostly going to the Christmas in July press events. The shows are an opportunity for brands to display their Autumn/Winter and Christmas products to the media and bloggers. Here are my best bits from Amazon, Obag, Osprey London and dotcomgiftshop:
This Olympus PEN E-PL7 Interchangeable Lens Camera is on my personal wish list for Christmas. I take most of my images on my iPhone because my ‘proper’ camera is just too bulky to carry around, but I’ve seen a few fashion bloggers using the Olympus. It’s small and lightweight with a flip down and tiling touch screen for selfies. I love the retro look too. Amazon is selling these from £319.
Amazon gave me a Fire TV Stick in my goodie bag, but they’re only £35. Just plug it into your TV and you have instant access to Netflicks, a huge database of films, box sets, games and music. Some of the content is free if you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber and you can also connect your own music and photos to play through the TV. Clever stuff. The Fire TV Stick is available from Amazon for £35.
Limited gold edition, Porcelain My Skull, from £60 on Amazon: “A worthy addition to any home” according to the blurb. I have nothing to add.
This stunning 18ct yellow gold diamond, aquamarine, quartz and praziolite bracelet is made by Vianna Brasil. I didn’t realise Amazon sold high-end jewellery. It’s a snip at £9,500 from Amazon.
At the Osprey London Christmas in July show I was given a beautiful pair of sunglasses, which I chose from a selection and then had adjusted to fit my face perfectly. The goodie bag contained this fabulous bright pink purse.
Osprey has a range of large handbags coming out next season, in vibrant colours. My favourite is the Cavallo Tote in python leather (£385 from Osprey London).
The O bag VIP event was more like a party than a press show. The champagne flowed, everyone mingled and there were even games and a challenge to create the best celebrity themed O bag. The new O Chic is a great bag for either laptop or beach, and like all the other O bags it is customisable – change the handles, inner bags and add trims for a new look. dotcomgiftshop has a huge range of handmade gifts, toys and homewares which would add a touch of class to your Christmas gift list. Their stocking fillers and games for kids are traditional, simple and hark back to a more wholesome childhood, where we weren’t all glued to our gadgets – remember tiddlywinks and jacks?
