Before our holiday I needed to get my hair sorted out. It felt like a great opportunity to visit Cheryl again at Daniel Galvin. She’s recently moved to their brand new salon in Kensington and was keen to show me around.

I love Kensington. There used to be a really edgy clothes market on the High Street, where I spent many a weekend as a teenager wandering around the shops. A few years later I went to sixth form college in Notting Hill Gate and used to spend my lunch hours window shopping on Kensington Church Street.

I’m less likely to go that far West now I’m mainly home based, so I treated my visit to the salon as a full day’s outing.

The salon is tucked away down a pretty side street. Abingdon Road is a residential road with beautiful Edwardian terraces, painted so white they positively gleam in the sunshine, the occasional delicatessen and neighbourhood pub.

Daniel Galvin has converted a period townhouse on the corner of Abingdon Road.

The salon has been designed to blend in with its stylish surroundings, from the minimalist exterior to the modern, sleek interior with its unusual modern art and massive flower displays.

Louise Galvin, Daniel’s daughter has created her own range of hair and skincare products, so using the marble bathroom meant I had an excuse to sample some of the range.

Let’s just say I wouldn’t be sad to be locked in here accidentally overnight.

Sam coloured my hair this time as Casey was partying in Ibiza. I went for a slightly more subtle Ombré style, blending my dark brown roots into a slightly redder, dark copper and then merging into my blonder ends. Sounds clashing, looks great!

Cheryl gave me a tousled, wavy look this time, using products containing sea salt for that ‘just returned from the beach party’ look. Here’s me and Cheryl.

The Kensington branch will be a popular choice for some of Galvin’s better known clients for whom discretion is important. I won’t name any names, but I did spend some time in reception with an A-lister.

The whole experience is always a pleasure. The team look after every client as if they’re royalty and the Kensington salon feels very exclusive.
