My favourite everyday makeup

I’ve published a few makeup videos before on the blog, but it’s always been tricky to see what products I’m using. You’ll see what I mean on this early makeup video post. Well I’m glad to say I’ve just taught myself to to create a time-lapse video with music and subtitles, so as I’m applying each product you can see what it is I’m using.

This quick-time makeup video (below) features my favourite every day products. Here they are, along with where you can buy them:

Arbonne Makeup Primer. A light formulation with a velvety texture. Keeps your makeup from absorbing into your skin and also creates a nice even, matte effect over which to apply your makeup. The Primer can also be applied over your makeup at the end of the day if you’re looking a bit shiny. Just rub it all over like a moisturiser and you’ll look like you just applied fresh makeup. Amazing. Suits all skin types.

Arbonne CC Cream in ‘Light’. As a makeup artist I’ve used this product on a lot of women of a certain age, who don’t like to look like they’re caked in makeup – and for whom some products seem to highlight their wrinkles. The consistency is like a rich moisturiser, so you don’t need to use much product. A pea-sized amount covers my whole face. It leaves a dewy finish which evens out your skin tone without it looking like you’re wearing a foundation – it’s a very natural look. Unlike a BB Cream, this CC Cream (which stands for Complexion Control) does have a tint to it, but this ‘Light’ version just seems to match all fair skin types. It comes in 4 shades.

Arbonne Blush in ‘Sunset’. Arbonne’s blushers are highly pigmented so you don’t need much product on your brush – and they blend easily. All of Arbonne’s products are vegan and contain beneficial botanical ingredients, so you can treat your skin while looking gorgeous.

Maybelline 24 hr Color Tattoo in ‘On & On Bronze’. This is a creamy eye shadow, which I use every day as a primer for my eyes. It’s a great base for any colour and gives a shimmer that highlights any shade you apply over the top. Powder will stick to it without creasing. You can wear this on its own, just add a bit of eyeliner and mascara and you’re good to go.

Bobbi Brown Shimmering Sands Eye Palette – I used ‘Sandcastle’ and Beach Bronzed’. This is one of my new favourite eye palettes. The lovely ladies at Bobbi Brown in Debenhams gave me a demonstration on how to use this. It’s not as shiny as it looks in the palette – which at my age is a good thing. The colours just have a lovely glow to them. They’re easily applied with either a brush or your fingers and blend well.

Makeup Store Eye Pencils – ‘Snowflake’ and ‘Dark Chocolate’. Unfortunately it’s not possible to buy Makeup Store products in the UK yet. This website will show you the range, but you’ll have to go to their Carnaby Street shop to buy anything – and what a treasure trove that place is. I have lost hours of my life in there. And the staff know their stuff. The pencils are soft, with intense colour which is great for blending – but they stay put so you won’t end up with eyeliner all over your face.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder from the Undercover Pot 2. I’ve talked about this little pot of magic before. I love the powder, which I use for setting my makeup and toning everything down a notch. It’s very light and easy to apply – you don’t have to be precise, just take a big Kabuki brush, dip it in the powder and brush liberally all over your face. Apply your mascara afterwards, otherwise some of the powder might stick to the product.

Arbonne It’s a Long Story Mascara in ‘Black’. This is seriously the best mascara on the market. It lengthens, strengthens and although it’s not waterproof, it doesn’t smudge. I’ve been using this mascara for 2 years and about once every 6 months, I have to trim my eyelashes as they grow so long with this mascara. The brush has 300 bristles so you won’t get big clumps of product settling on your eyelashes. Invest in this, it’s amazing.

Arbonne Glossed Over Lip Gloss in ‘Mallow’. These lip glosses contain passion fruit oil and are intensely moisturising. This is a light, natural colour which you can wear every day instead of a lip balm.

Here’s the video. Please let me know what you think and if you’d like to see more of these, featuring different looks. Enjoy! (If you can’t see the captions at the bottom of the screen, you’ll need to turn on your subtitles in YouTube at the bottom of the video.)
