I love working with specialists and artisans. I’ve found one that appeals to two of my passions – chocolate and skincare. A strange combination you may think, but St Kitts Herbery makes beautiful products based on herbal formulations. Luxury fragrances, skincare products, artisan herbal chocolates and preserves are all produced at the Herberry in Cornwall.

St Kitts Herbery was founded in 2001 by Susan & Paul Johnson on the site of St Kitts Leisure Stop, an old truck stop style cafe on the A39 in North Cornwall. They started with £2,000, a polytunnel and a few packets of seeds. They now have two shops – in Cornwall and Cardiff, and supply several hotels and restaurant chains.

I’ve tried the unisex Bergamot perfume, which is elegantly packaged to appeal to men and women. The top notes include bergamot, lemon, lime, orange, mandarin and grapefruit providing the fresh citrus fragrance, while the base notes of musk, amber and patchouli give a musky scent.

The perfume costs £24.95 and is available online from http://www.stkittsherbery.co.uk/ or from their shop in Camelford, Cornwall. They offer tours and talks too, so you can see how they grow the herbs and create their products.
