Face yoga is a thing now and it’s dividing opinions in the health and skincare industry.
Some say face yoga is as beneficial as Botox or surgery and that facial exercises help banish fine lines and sagging, by increasing blood circulation under the skin.
Critics (mainly from the cosmetic surgery community – make of that what you will) say that the earlier you start yoga-ing your face, the sooner you’ll get wrinkles, as the repetitive movement creases the skin.
As you know I hate exercise so I’m not getting involved.
If you’re a regular reader, you’ll also know that I’m always on the look out for a product/miracle to plump out the deeper lines on my face. And just recently my jowls have been succumbing to gravity and taking a bit of a downward plunge.
A tool called NEWA promised to address these issues.
The NEWA device:
NEWA is a skin tightening tool to create a more youthful appearance, and is for home use – so I don’t even have to walk to the spa. That sounds like a system I can get behind.
NEWA sent me their kit to review a month ago, and I’ve been using it every two or three days since.
Here’s what NEWA claims:
NEWA is the most advanced home-use skin tightening tool available – you won’t get a more effective treatment outside of a skin clinic.
It rebuilds collagen and stimulates your skin with 3DEEP technology; a unique skin tightening technology that’s been developed from the science behind the ENDYMED 3DEEP professional medical device. The patented 3DEEP technology delivers controlled energy deep into your skin, without any pain or risk, heating the skin tissue to the optimum level that stimulates natural collagen production: reducing wrinkles, leaving skin firmer, tighter and more radiant.
It’s the ultimate beauty tool for a younger looking you – whether you want to reduce the signs of ageing that have already appeared or hold wrinkles at bay. It can also help reduce acne scarring.
In this video, I show you how to use the device. [Warning: I have no makeup on]
It does require patience to sit in one place for eight minutes, as it’s not wireless. Plus I had to get up earlier in the morning to fit this into my routine.
Looking at it more positively, it’s easy enough to use; requires you to take some time out for yourself – perhaps practice a bit of mindfulness while you’re at it. It feels nice having that warmth on your face, and you can use it in the privacy of your own home.
But does it work?
According to NEWA, 90% of subjects showed improvement in wrinkle appearance after one month of treatment. Participants showed continued improvement after three months without additional treatments.
You can judge for yourself.
Here are my before and after photos:
It’s really difficult to compare before and after photos as the lighting is always going to be slightly different and my facial expressions aren’t completely identical.
I think there has been a slight improvement in the lines around my mouth, after a month’s use. But my jowls haven’t improved at all.
Perhaps I need to keep at it for 3 months and post more photos then?
What do you think? Can you see an improvement?
You can shop for the NEWA device, which costs £349 here: www.newabeauty.co.uk/shop
Much love, Vx
